Fully Covered

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

“Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.”  Ephesians 6:10

The other day I was considering full coverage or liability insurance on my 1998 Honda Accord.  I decided to leave it at full coverage even though liability costs quite a bit less.   That very next morning, as I had left the car outside that night, I looked out the living room picture window and what do you suppose I saw.  I saw the basketball hoop, blown over by the strong south wind, lying on the hood of my car.

We do something similar when it comes to protecting our soul as we consider the type of insurance coverage to put on us.  Should we put on full coverage or should we just put on liability coverage.

The apostle Paul gives a command in the above verse.  The command to you is to, “put on.”  You, yourself, must put on the full armor of God.  God is not going to put it on for you.  By God’s grace and mercy He has makes the full armor of God available to you.  It is as follows:

  • Girded loins with truth
  • Breastplate of righteousness
  • Shod feet with preparation of the gospel of peace
  • Shield of faith
  • Helmet of salvation
  • Sword of the Spirt, which is the Word of God

Dear friends, if you opt for “liability” you will be left very vulnerable to the schemes of the devil.  You will not be able to stand up to him and you will fall and get an ugly dent in your hood.  However, once you are protected with the full armor of God you have “full coverage” and you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.  Dear friends, this is really good news. Please take some time right now and consider your personal insurance today.  Without the full armor of God you are truly underinsured, with the full armor of God you are well insured.  If you have not upgraded to full coverage, now is the time to do that.

Fully covered,

Pastor Tom
